Tom Peterson's practice includes area of Admiralty and Maritime Law.

Prior to joining Nicoletti Hornig & Sweeney, Tom practiced as a public defender in Bronx County, New York, where he focused on the criminal defense of indigent clients of the Bronx. Additionally, prior to law school, Tom served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy for 22 years, holding positions at all levels both aboard ships and ashore. While in the Navy, Tom held various command billets including Commanding Officer of USS CHIEF (MCM 14), USS ARDENT (MCM 12), and USS SENTRY (MCM 3) all Avenger Class Mine Countermeasures Ships both in Ingleside, Texas and Manama, Bahrain; Commander of the Provincial Reconstruction Team, Paktika Province, Afghanistan; and Commanding Officer of USS PORTER (DDG 78) an Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyer in Norfolk, Virginia. Tom retired from the United States Navy in July 2013 and started law school at Roger Williams University School of Law, Bristol, Rhode Island. During law school, he was a summer intern for the Honorable John J. McConnell, Jr. of the United States District Court, District of Rhode Island.
