Matthew R. Auer
Matthew concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance litigation, admiralty matters, and general civil litigation. He has over 10 years of experience working on fishing vessels and holds a U.S. Coast Guard issued 100 Ton Master Near Coastal License. Prior to joining Nicoletti Hornig & Sweeney, Matthew defended clients in several personal injury cases concerning ferries, and matters concerning property damage, breach of contract, professional malpractice, construction defect, and construction labor law. He also has experience defending clients against claims based on the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 as well as New York’s Navigation Law.
Matthew Auer earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 2014, where he served as the Secretary of the Hofstra Tax Law Society, and interned at a large international law firm where he worked on a range of complex federal maritime litigation matters. He is currently admitted to practice in the State of New York and holds a B.S. in Accounting.
